Getting the most out of a city break can sometimes be an expensive business.
But when you’re visiting York, there’s a simple way to save money without missing out on any of the major sights and experiences.
Simply pick up a York Pass.
It’s the official York sightseeing pass, giving you entry to many of York’s top attractions, must-see museums and iconic monuments, all for one price.
Available as a one- or two-day pass, it’s quick and easy to use, eliminates the need for cash transactions at admission points and also includes a free hop-on hop-off bus tour plus a choice of three pasta or pizza dishes at York’s ASK Italian restaurant.
Of course with the current Coronavirus restrictions things may have changed at many York attractions, but the vast majority are open to visitors and the York city pass still represents excellent value for money.
Pre-booking is now required at many attractions, so please do check and plan before your visit.
Officials are encouraging visitors to buy the card from yorkpass.com and download the digital pass directly to your smartphone.
Staff at York’s Visitor Information Centre, situated on Museum Street in the heart of the city, will also be happy to help set up your city pass, which is activated when your unique QR code is scanned on entry to your first attraction.
A one-day adult York sightseeing pass is usually £48 and a child pays £30, but there is currently a 20% discount available with a code on the official website.
All York Passes are valid for 24 months from purchase and are only activated at the first attraction you visit, meaning you can buy them well in advance of your stay and plan your trip accordingly.
During busy holiday periods, even with Covid restrictions in place, it’s advisable to plan your visit to major York attractions either earlier or later in the day to make sure that you’re not disappointed.
